Mr. Samit S Shetty
Executive Director
Samit is one of the founder/Promoter of Chaitanya and a Director at Chaitanya. He has completed his MBA from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad and BE in Mechanical Engineering from Bangalore University. Before Chaitanya, he has worked in Olam International Limited, a global leader in the supply chain management of agricultural products and food ingredients. He spent his initial five years in Africa and subsequently he had setup Olam's coffee operations in Brazil and led the business for four years as its country manager. He has acquired significant experience in setting up systems and processes related to agricultural procurement, financing and trading. He has been associated with Chaitanya since 2008 April. He has developed an understanding of the joint liability group model initially by studying and training with other micro finances and later by being part of the implementation team in Jagalur. Currently he handles HR, Accounting and finance functions within the company.
Mr Anand Rao
Executive Director
Anand is one of the founder/Promoter of Chaitanya and a Director of Chaitanya. He has completed his MA in International Relations from Syracuse University, USA, a Management Degree from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay and BE in Mechanical Engineering from Bangalore University. His earlier work experience has been in International Development at World Resources Institute, Washington DC and earlier in the Indian Corporate Sector at PepsiCo India and Bosch India. He comes to Chaitanya from Small Scale Sustainable Infrastructure Development Fund (S3IDF), an international non-profit organization working in supporting enterprises in the small-scale infrastructure space, where he worked for five years. During his tenure at S3IDF, he worked extensively with the Self Help Group and Joint Liability Group lending models to provide financing to poor communities to meet their basic infrastructure needs. He implemented several innovative projects such as providing solar lighting, pressure cookers and LPG connections to SHG and JLG members which used microfinance to provide the necessary financing for infrastructure services. His work was focused in the districts of Chitradurga, Davangere and Bellary. Based on this experience of micro lending, he further perfected his skills of carrying micro lending under Chaitanya Foundation for a period of two years before starting the NBFC. Chaitanya Foundation and the NBFC also focused geographically in the same districts where he had gained his experience. He is the COO and Joint Managing director of the company directly in charge of operations.
Mr. Ramesh Sundaresan
Nominee Director
Mr. Ramesh Sundaresan is the Investor's Nominee Director at Chaitanya. He is a graduate from NIT Trichy and Post Graduate from Indian Institute of Management Lucknow He is the Managing Director of Invenio and he is based in Bangalore. Invenio is engaged in providing market making and risk management solutions in agricultural derivatives to various producers and consumers of commodities. Invenio also has a fund management division that manages third party money by investing in algorithmic and systematic proprietary trading strategies.
Ms. Lisa G Thomas
Nominee Director
Ms. Lisa G Thomas is the Nominee Director (nominated by Shorecap II Limited) at Chaitanya. She has completed her MBA from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business, USA and Bachelor of Science from University of Oregon, USA. She is a highly skilled professional with over 10 years of work experience in venture capital and private equity investing, financial analysis, microfinance, strategic planning, project management, governance and operations. She has a robust emerging market experience having worked with companies in 20 countries in Africa, Asia and the Caucuses. She is very passionate about impact investing with significant expertise in the financial inclusion space including microfinance, small and medium enterprise (SME) lending, deposit mobilization and alternative delivery channels. Earlier, she has worked in Companies like Equator Capital Partners, Capital Plus Exchange, The Clement Group, CRT Capital Group LLC, Merrill Lynch & Co. and she was also a Co-founder and Chief Investment Officer of VestedWorld, Inc, Chicago, USA. She is a recognized leader in the social impact space through lecturing and scholarship.
